After the lavish lifestyle of the Roaring Twenties the stock market crashed. The banks went bankrupt and houses were being foreclosed, making the American dream seem unattainable. The dust bowl left farmers farm-less, and people famished, leaving them with nothing but hopes and dreams of a better tomorrow. Literature and film became a popular outlet. In this site we will explore the American Dream through the books and films that were made or inspired by America’s darkest time, the Great Depression.
